Something I noticed is that I wanted to bulk update all the footprints of the LED however this was difficult because it reference the LED in the kicad footprint library. This meant I either had to modify the kicad library (bad as it affects other pcbs) or edit the footprint for each LED (which is what I did).

It occurred to me after that if I copied the footprint to the badge library I could modify it in bulk without affecting any other kicad projects.

I also think this makes sense for schematic symbols.
