Diamond Front Unit v6.4

This repository contains the source and production files for the Diamond Orb Front Unit PCB, as well as schematics and layouts in PDF format for easier viewing.

Note 1: This is an Allspice repository! That means Altium schematics and PCBs can be directly viewed within the repository!

Note 2: To produce a board, the "Fabrication" folder under "Production" should be sent to the board house. Also under "Production", the "Assembly" folder should be sent to the assembly house or SMT line. This folder contains the bill of materials (BOM) and placement information.

Overview

This board is one of the main components that make the Orb work as intended. It houses 4 types of LEDS that sufficiently illuminate both the individual's face as well as their eyes:

      1. Dark pink: 850nm IR LEDs
      2. Light pink: 940nm IR LEDs
      3. Yellow: RGB LEDs
      4. Small grey (between the yellow): White LEDs

Most high currents on the device are consumed by this board, and the functions here also have a safety aspect to them. Therefore, it implements a variety of reliability and safety checks in hardware which include around a dozen temperature sensors, physical logic for informing the host whether any LEDs are currently turned on (important for eye safety) and a readback of the addressing signal of the RGB LEDs for reliability.

This is a 6-layer FR4 PCB.
