Diamond Orb Mainboard v4.7
This repository contains the source and production files for the Diamond Orb mainboard, as well as schematics and layouts in PDF format for easier viewing.
Note 1: This is an Allspice repository! That means Altium schematics and PCBs can be directly viewed within the repository!
Note 2: To produce a board, the "Fabrication" folder under "Production" should be sent to the board house. Also under "Production", the "Assembly" folder should be sent to the assembly house or SMT line. This folder contains the bill of materials (BOM) and placement information.
Board overview - Top
This is the top side of the Orb mainboard. The "front" of the Orb is at the top of the picture, and this PCB is mounted horizontally. Most Orb peripherals plug into the mainboard in various ways.
Salient features have been numbered in the screenshot as follows:
1. NFC transceiver - STMicro ST25R3918
2. Audio DAC - TI TAS5805M
3. Connector for LTE module: Telit LE910C4
4. Polarizer stepper motor connector
5. Main MCU - STM32G474VET6
6. Liquid lens connector
7. Eye camera connector
8. M.2 WiFi connector
9. Nvidia Jetson connector
10. SD Express PCB connector
11. Backup battery connector
12. Debug board connector
This is a 6-layer FR4 PCB.
Board overview - Bottom
This is the bottom side of the Orb mainboard. Here we find a bunch of miscellaneous components that aren't marked (several sets of power supplies for onboard peripherals - the square inductors are a good giveaway and HDMI & microUSB debug ports for the Jetson) as well as these components:
1. Gimbal stepper motor connector
2. Sensors cable connector (ToF sensor, thermal camera, face camera)
3. Powerboard right connector (IR & RGB LED control signals)
4. Thermal camera coprocessor (SPI -> USB)
5. USB Hub for internal peripherals
6. Powerboard center connector (Power rails)
7. Main battery terminal
8. Powerboard left connector (I2C & more power rails)
