Build a CubeSat: Hardware Design Resources
KiCad Library
This contains a unified library of curated symbols, footprints, and 3D models. It’s kept as up to date as possible, but if anything is wrong, obsolete, or missing, don’t hesitate to let me know.
KiCad Templates
KiCad project template files for the most common boards. Currently includes the following:
- Blank: No edge cuts.
Work in progress:
- PCB Main, single bacBus: Main PCB for stacking with bacBus on the Xp side, pass-through on the Xm side. Mechanical connection: board clamps or holders.
- PCB Main, double bacBus: Main PCB with bacBus on both Xm and Xp sides. Mechanical connection: board clamps or holders.
- PCB Daughter, rail mount: Mezzanine PCB without bacBus, intended to connect to a Main PCB via pin headers or other means. Mechanical connection: board clamps or holders.
- PCB Daughter, standoff mount: Mezzanine PCB without bacBus, intended to connect to a main PCB via pin headers or other means. Mechanical connection: bolts to standoffs on main PCB.
- EPS Main PCB: PCB that sits atop the battery pack in the EPS bay. Dual bacBus connectors, 4 landing pads for modules (2 chargers, 2 voltage regulators). Mechanical connection: M3 bolts to EPS bay.
- EPS Module PCB: Stamp sized voltage regulator or charging module that go on top (or underneath) the EPS Main PCB. Mechanical connection: Soldering or pin headers.
- Panel PCB: Side panels for the Xm, Xp, Ym, Yp sides of the satellite. 0.5U size. Mechanical connection: M3 bolts to structure.
